About Our Staff

Meet our PK3 teacher, Heidi Kamaly. Mrs. Kamaly has 15 years of Early Childhood teaching experience and 19 years of teaching CCD from Preschool through Eighth grade. She holds an Early Childhood Teaching Certificate from Saddleback College in sunny California and Levels 1 and 2 Religious Education Certificates from the Diocese of San Antonio. Mrs. Kamaly comes from a family of 14 and has four beautiful children and a wonderful husband of 25 years..

Meet our PK4 (PK4A) teacher, Darlene Kullberg.  Mrs. Kullberg has been teaching Pre-K 4 at Sts. Peter andPaul Catholic School since 2004. Her background also includes teaching a Biblically based parenting class, Religious Education classes, and corporate training. She has had many years of Catholic Bible Study instruction and holds a Level II Catechist Certification. Mrs. Kullberg earned a Bachelor of Science Degree fromThe University of South Carolina, where she graduated with honors. She, and her spouse of over 20 years, have three children. Her eldest child is a graduate of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School. She also has two children currently enrolled in the School of Logic.

Meet our PK4 (PK4B) teacher, Katie Leitgen. Mrs. Leitgen earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and graduated Cum Laude from Chaminade University in Hawaii. She is a certified teacher and has over 5 years of teaching experience. Mrs. Leitgen was born in San Antonio, TX and moved to New Braunfels in 2004. She is married to Robb Leitgen and they have two wonderful children. Katie enjoys reading traveling, shopping, and spending time with her family.

Meet our Kindergarten (KA) teacher, Judy Walther. Mrs. Walther has over 25 of teaching experience and received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Texas A&M-Kingsville.  She has taught grades PK4 through 4th  in the Diocese of Corpus Christi, the Diocese of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia, the Archdiocese of San Antonio, and the East Central School District in San Antonio.  For three years she served as Academic Coordinator of Rolling Hills Academy.  This is her seventh year of teaching at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School. 

Meet our Kindergarten (KB) Teacher, Glenda Cobb.  Mrs. Cobb began her career at Sts. Peter and Paul in 1997.  Prior to serving in her current capacity, Mrs. Cobb taught in the public school system for 13 years as a PE teacher and a Kindergarten teacher.  She also taught at Mother’s Day Out for 4 years. Mrs. Cobb holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a Master's degree with kindergarten endorsement.  Both were granted through Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State). She lives in San Marcos and is married to Rodney Cobb, Director of Community Services in San Marcos.  They have  one son, Jeremy, who is majoring in Athletic Training at Texas State

Meet our First Grade (1A) Teacher, Erica Aruroa. Ms. Aurora graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. This is her fifth year teaching at Sts. Peter and Paul. She was born and raised in New Braunfels and graduated from New Braunfels High School. She is the mother of a beautiful four year old and loves to spend as much time as possible with her! Ms. Aurora is looking forward to a fantastic year with her students!!

Meet our First Grade (1B) Teacher, Jill Van Geffen.  Mrs. Van Geffen  is a graduate from LeTournaeu University. This will be Jill's 6th year as a member of the staff  at Sts. Peter and Paul. Jill was raised in Austin, Texas and moved to New Braunfels in 2008. She has been married for 15 years and has a daughter who is in the 8th grade here at Sts. Peter and Paul. Jill enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.

Meet our Second Grade (2A) Teacher, Deborah Chittenden. Mrs. Deborah Chittenden earned a BBA in Computer Information Systems and teaching certification from the University of Texas at El Paso.  She taught in the Lubbock-Cooper ISD for 4 years and at Sts. Peter and Paul for 3 years.  After staying home for 5 years after the birth of her youngest son, she is back at SPP.  Mrs. Chittenden lives in Seguin and is married to Bill Chittenden, Chair of the Finance and Economics Department at Texas State. They have 4 children: Rylan and Lorelei (both Freshman at Texas State), Dylan (9th grade) and Aaron (1st grade at SPP).

Meet our Second Grade (2B) Teacher, Tammy Schaefer.  Mrs. Schaefer is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University. She has 4 years teaching experience. Mrs. Schaefer was born and raised in New Braunfels and graduated from Canyon High School. She and her husband have one son who is in PreK 4 at Sts. Peter and Paul. Mrs. Schaefer enjoys gardening and being with her family.

Meet our Fourth Grade teacher, Desiree Olmos.  Mrs. Desiree Olmos graduated from Texas A&M University in 1988 with a Business Analysis degree.  After working as a COBOL programmer for Coca Cola Foods in Houston, Texas, she decided to go back to school to become a teacher.  Her certification grades Pre K- 6 includes an endorsement for Early Childhood and a Gifted/Talented certification.  Mrs. Olmos has been teaching for over 20 years with the first 10 years in the public school system and the last 11 years here at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School.  Mrs. Olmos received her Level 2 Religious Certification while teaching here.  She has been married to Carlos Olmos for 18 years and both her children have attended Sts. Peter and Paul since they were in Pre K-3.  Donny is now a senior and Michael is s 8th grader here.  Mrs. Olmos loves drama, played Rizzo in her high school musical “Grease”, and serves as our One-Act Play Asst. Director.  Her goal is to be a positive influence on children and young adults as they develop the faith, morals, and education they will use to interact with the people and environment around them.

Meet our Eighth grade homeroom teacher and 6/8 ELA, Meghan Frost. Meet our 6th and 8th grades ELA Teacher, Meghan Frost.  Ms. Frost  is a graduate of the University of Dallas, where she majored in Theology.  This will be Meghan's 2nd year as a member of the staff  at Sts. Peter and Paul.  Meghan has lived all over the country but considers San Antonio her home. Meghan will also serve as the School of Logic volleyball coach for the 2012 season.  In her free time, Ms. Frost enjoys playing sports, cooking and baking, and traveling.


Meet our Middle School Science and Seventh grade homeroom teacher,  Christina Duncan.  Mrs. Duncan graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio with a Bachelor of Arts dual major of Biology and English with a concentration in Education.  She also currently holds three Texas teaching certificates in her content areas and special education. Mrs. Duncan has been teaching for eight years: two years in Fort Bend ISD in Sugarland, two years in Comal ISD here in New Braunfels, and the last threeyears here at Sts. Peter and Paul School.  Mrs. Duncan is also the advisor for the Student Council and is the director for the Sts. Peter and Paul Science Fair.

Meet our Music Teacher, Anne Edwards. Meet our Music Teacher, Anne Edwards.  Mrs.Edwards has a BA in Choral Music with a minor in Education from the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota as well as graduate studies in Gifted, Talented, and Creative Education from the University of St. Thomas (also in Minnesota).  Mrs. Edwards has taught both music and gifted education in public schools previously, as well as participating in music ministry most of her life, from choir member to Director of Music.  Mrs. Edwards has traveled all over the world singing with choirs, enjoys reading and spending time with her family, she has one daughter that attends Sts. Peter and Paul School.

Meet our Music Teacher, Richard Novak.  Dr. Richard Novak is teaching music for the School of Logic at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic School. Dr. Novak has established a national reputation as a professional tenor, voice teacher, and choir director.  As a soloist, Dr. Novak has performed with Washington Concert Opera, Opera Carolina, San Antonio Opera, Annapolis Opera, Chautauqua Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Wichita Grand Opera, The Living Opera, Wagner Society of Washington, D.C., San Antonio Symphony, Chautauqua Symphony, Prince William Symphony, the Monroe Symphony, and the Institute of Culture in Culiacan and Mazatlan (Mexico).  Among Dr. Novak’s operatic credits are Rodolfo, Pinkerton, Alfredo, Don José, Nemorino, Eisenstein, Tamino, Lippo, Roméo, and Tybalt. Training programs include the Chautauqua Opera Apprentice Program, Des Moines Metro Opera Apprentice Program, the Wichita Grand Opera Resident Artist Program, the Wesley Balk Singing/Acting Institute, and the Evelyn Lear and Thomas Stewart Emerging Singers Program (at the request of Evelyn Lear).   In 2005 and 2006, Dr. Novak won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (Tulsa District). Dr. Novak holds a BM and MM in Vocal Performance from Stephen F. Austin State University, and the Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas. Richard has been an active church musician since 1994, and is currently the Director of Music at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. In addition, Dr. Novak teaches voice at the University of the Incarnate Word. Prior to teaching at UIW, Dr. Novak taught at Trinity University, George Mason University, Oklahoma State University, and the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Richard resides in Cibolo, TX with his wife and two children (both children attend SPP Catholic School). 

Meet our Art teacher, Grace Pfieffer. Grace Pfeiffer is a graduate from Texas Tech University.   She has been having way too much fun teaching art to our younger students for several years here at SPP!  Mrs. Pfeiffer is passionate about photography, education, and pretty much anything related to art.  See what she and her students are up to at her classroom blog: http://mrspfeiffer.blogspot.com/ 

Meet our Art teacher, Tammy Zgabay. Mrs. Zgabay graduated from Texas A&M University in 1990 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education Curriculum and Instruction, along with an Early Childhood Kindergarten Endorsement.  She taught first grade for five years at Pattison Elemenary in Katy ISD and kindergarten for one year at Hunter's Creek Elementary in Sring Branch ISD.  Both are National Blue Ribbon Exemplary Schools.  In addition, Mrs. Zgabay served one year teaching first grade at St. Joseph Catholic School in Bryan and four years as a Kindergarten teacher here at Saints Peter and Paul.  Mrs. Zgabay is married to Craig.  They have three children:  Cassidy, a senior at John Paul II Catholic High School, Caroline, a sophomore at JPII, and Zachary, an eigth grader at Saints Peter and Paul.

Meet our Challenge Lab Director, Ann Kippes. Mrs. Kippes is currently teaching Math and Science for 5th grade as well as being our Challenge Lab Director. Mrs. Kippes has 15 years of teaching experience. She received her degree from Southern Illinois University in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Kippes holds certifications in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, English Language Arts and Reading (6th-8th) and Special Education (K-12). We are delighted to have Mrs. Kippes and her children join the Sts. Peter & family this year.

Meet our Guidance Counselor and Vice Principal, Alyssa Robson. This is Dr. Robson's second year as our Guidance Counselor.  She is very passionate about the health and happiness of our children and truly enjoys working with them.  She has an M.B.A., Master in Psychology, and a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.).  Additionally, she is a senior credentialed mediator and arbitrator.  Dr. Robson also works part-time with John Paul II Catholic High School as their Guidance Counselor, along with continuing her private practice in New Braunfels, Houston, Austin and San Antonio.
